Emergency Room Doctor – Mount Sinai Hospital
CBC Radio Host – White Coat, Black Art; Healthcare Pundit; Author
“The Power of Kindness: Why Empathy Is Essential in Everyday Life”
Dr. Goldman has been an active participant and keen observer of the culture of medicine over a long career. Since 2007, he has hosted White Coat, Black Art on CBC Radio revealing what goes on behind a hospital’s sliding doors.
As a veteran emergency room physician, he has set broken bones, cured pneumonia and otherwise pulled people back from the brink. He always believed that caring came naturally to physicians. But time, stress, errors and heavy expectations left him wondering whether he might no longer be the same caring doctor that he was at the beginning of his career.
In The Power of Kindness, Dr. Goldman leaves the comfortable, familiar surroundings of the hospital in search of his own lost compassion. Powerful and engaging, The Power of Kindness takes us from the theatre of medicine and into the world at large, investigating why kindness is so vital to our existence.
