Paul Berton
“Excess in Our Time”
Paul Berton is the editor-in-chief of Metroland Media newspapers and websites, including the Hamilton Spectator and the London Free Press.
A journalist for four decades, he has written for many newspapers and magazines in Canada, and is the author of two books of non-fiction, Shopomania: Our Obsession with Possession; and Misfortune and Fame: 10 Reasons You Don’t Want to be Rich (or Famous).
Using humorous anecdotes about the rich and famous, Berton will tell us why money, fame and stuff are a double-edged sword, and how living a simple life can make people happier, the environment healthier and society better.
