Chief Executive Officer – Toronto Zoo

Former VP & GM – Vancouver Aquarium Marine Science Centre

“Conservation at a Crossroad”

People are becoming disconnected from the natural world and the challenges that animals and their habitats face. Are we running out of time in our efforts to protect the natural world? What needs to happen in the next decade to ensure we can share nature with future generations? What role does a modern accredited facility like the Toronto Zoo play in activating people on this conservation journey? There is still time for us to make a positive difference and that journey needs to start today!

Dolf DeJong joined the Toronto Zoo as its new Chief Executive Officer this past September after six years with the Vancouver Aquarium Marine Science Centre.

With a Masters of Environmental Studies from Wilfred Laurier University, a Bachelor of Education from the University of Toronto and a Bachelor of Science (Honours) from Brock University, Dolf is well-known in the Halton community. His previous positions have included Director of Biodiversity Programs at the Royal Botanical Gardens, Park Area Manager at Conservation Halton, and Assistant Park Superintendent at Bronte Creek, Presqu’ile and Ferris Provincial Parks. He has also worked as a Natural Heritage Education Leader and an Interpreter at Presqu’ile Provincial Park.
