Canadian author Ken McGoogan is best-known for his biographical narratives about Arctic exploration, among them Searching for Franklin, Fatal Passage, and Lady Franklin’s Revenge. His seventeen books also include novels, memoirs, histories, and polemical works like Canada’s Undeclared War: Fighting Words from the Literary Trenches. Ken has won a Cambridge University fellowship, the Pierre Berton Award for History, the University of British Columbia Medal for Canadian Biography, and an American Christopher Award for “a work of artistic excellence.” With Douglas & McIntyre, Ken has just published Shadows of Tyranny: Defending Democracy in an Age of Dictatorship. Born in Montreal and raised in a French-speaking town, Ken has rambled the world, resided in towns and cities throughout Canada, and now lives in Guelph, Ontario.
